Karen Bowman has been the practice administrator at Gastrointestinal Associates of Cleveland for 21 years. Karen is a Fellow with the American College of Medical Practice Executives. She is also a CPC, CPMA, CPCO and an AAPC Approved Instructor.
Karen is a past president of Tennessee Medical Group Management Association and has also served as the ACMPE Forum Rep for TMGMA. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the ACMPE Certification Commission, is the ACMPE Certification Commission Forum Rep Liaison, a past MGMA State Liaison for Kansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana, and is a past president of Cleveland MGMA. Karen has been awarded the TMGMA Practice Administrator of the Year and the 2024 ACMPE Forum Representative of the year.
Karen has served on the AAPC National Advisory Board and currently serves on the AAPC Ambassador Committee. She is a past president and has served in numerous capacities with her local AAPC Chapter. Karen has presented for many organizations on topics relevant to healthcare coding, billing, and management. Karen is also a past adjunct faculty member for South College in Knoxville and Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, teaching billing and medical coding.
Karen is married, has two children, one special grandson, and four spoiled rescue yorkies and two rescue cats. You will find her in the fall at the University of Tennessee football games cheering on her grandson who marches in the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. Go Vols!
